The Velocity Gap

The Velocity Gap

In Q2 2026, three supply-side platforms shipped production agentic advertising infrastructure.

PubMatic launched Decision Fabric on June 1 — GPU-accelerated containers running partner models at ~1ms inference across 2.7 trillion daily bids. Four pilot partners deploying custom algorithms. Built on the IAB Tech Lab's ARTF standard.

Index Exchange launched Index Cloud on April 21 — proprietary compute, sub-5ms execution, Bedrock as the first containerized DSP running its bidder inside an exchange. Also ARTF-aligned.

Magnite has been operational since December 2025 — seller agents in SpringServe, Disney Advertising inventory, AdCP-aligned.

D/Cipher has a summer intern reviewing and testing new agentic features.

The Scoreboard

Platform Status Standard Latency
PubMatic Decision Fabric Production ARTF ~1ms
Index Cloud Production ARTF Sub-5ms
Magnite SpringServe Production AdCP —
D/Cipher Intern review None N/A

This isn't a criticism of D/Cipher's core product. The intent taxonomy works. The pre-computed content intelligence is genuinely differentiated. But intelligence without infrastructure is just a database.

The agentic auction is a new execution environment. Contextual signals need to be available inside the bidstream, at auction time, in a format that buyer agents can consume. PubMatic and Index built the rooms. The question is whether D/Cipher's signals will be in them.

People Inc is absent from both competing standards — ARTF (IAB Tech Lab, extends OpenRTB) and AdCP (AgenticAdvertising.org, 20+ member companies). Not building. Not piloting. Not at the table.

An intern is reviewing features.

The gap is measured in quarters now. By the time D/Cipher ships an agentic integration, the infrastructure partners, pilot data, and optimization loops will belong to the platforms that showed up first.
